Caribbean Beer Labels

868, 246, 592: these numbers are meaningful to residents of Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados, and Guyana respectively – they are the area codes of each country. Launching a new line of lagers under this area code branding, Carib Brewery turned to Saltwater Studios for label designs for the new products.

We developed a modern, craft-beer inspired look as clean and crisp as the beer in each bottle. The numbers speak loudest, supported in each case by a montage of national elements in a national colour: red steelpan, hummingbird and ibis for Trinidad; green jaguar, lotus, and jungle for Guyana; blue pelican, flying fish and sea for Barbados.

The label concept proved sufficiently versatile to become the baseline identity for the brand and all its communications.
